Kids respond to the crack of a whip. Fear sharpens the senses and increases alertness. Running away from a tyrannical parent is also good exercise. If the child is being beaten, they will have the opportunity? to learn basic first aid skills, such as how to stop bleeding, how to bandage bruises and wounds, etc. You have to look for the positive in things.

@alisonpoulsen Yes, some people feel like they have to be a? total jerk or yell at people. That isn’t always true.

@connerjd I agree. Positive criticism should be void of judgment. Something like,? “it would be more effective if…” “When you use that tone of voice, I feel attacked. How about just asking like this…”

The problem that I see is that many people are too? afraid to give criticism because they tell the difference between the positive and negative kind.

Thank you for your comment. Beating doesn’t result in understanding, although it can get children to do what you want through the power of domination, fear, and punishment. But it causes humiliation, resentment, and hatred. I believe that trying to? motivate your children through understanding, example, and logical consequences is more likely to lead to self-empowerment and the ability to have fulfilling relationships based on mutual respect, equality, and autonomy. continued…

What if were on an evolutionary path , wouldnt beating the children for understanding be more of an evolutionary continuitituty? Sometimes a good spanking is extactly what kids need, i grew up with so many spankings and beatings i hated it then? , but now im greatful =p
